Inshore Fishing Report 4/21/20

Welcome to the first official fishing report of

We’re going to hop right into the report without any fluff. If you’d like to read more about who we are and what we do, check out our About Us page for more information.

Spring time is definitely heating up here in South Florida with the fishing picking up. Unfortunately, we’re still battling the Covid-19 pandemic, but as of recently Martin County & St. Lucie County have re-opened the boat ramps (Thank God)!

Please continue to keep safe distances so that they don’t close the ramps.

Where To Find Bait Fish

Currently, in terms of bait fish, Jensen Beach Causeway is FILLED with Pilchards. Our suggestion would be to throw a sabiki rig on, drop into the shadow-lines and pull them up. We caught 30+ in a matter of minutes.

Of course, if you can find them running in the shallows, a cast net always does the trick. The difference that we found that the nearshore pilchards were smaller than the ones at the causeway.

Anyway, once you have the bait, where do we go from here?

Inshore Fishing Report

Currently, we’re getting reports from Fort Pierce showing the redfish and trout bite being exceptional using soft plastics or live shrimp. The power lines on the west side of the indian river lagoon were putting out some great fish.

We were fishing the Fort Pierce inlet during an incoming tide where the snook were slamming pilchards and live mullet. Make sure to stay safe on those rocks!

Also, we’re starting to hear some Tarpon are showing up, we’ve found a few little guys in the mud creek & blind creek estuaries.

Please post your findings in the comments and if you would like to write for us, shoot us a line!

Now get out there and catch some fish!
